Save The Dream Foundation is a youth-driven non-governmental organization committed to empowering vulnerable children and young people in Tanzania by providing opportunities for personal development, education, and economic empowerment. The organization works to create a supportive environment where children and youth—especially those facing social and economic challenges such as street life, poverty, and limited access to opportunities—can rebuild hope, discover their potential, and build a dignified future. Although Save The Dream Foundation officially obtained its registration in 2025 with registration number 00NGO/R/9132, the organization began its community work in 2023, when a group of passionate young changemakers started volunteering to support vulnerable children and youth in different communities. Through these early efforts, the foundation provided essential support such as food, clothing, mentorship, and psychosocial encouragement to children in orphanages and those living in difficult environments. These initiatives laid the foundation for a broader vision of empowering disadvantaged children and youth to transform their lives and become productive members of society. Save The Dream Foundation was established with the vision of building a society where every child and young person—regardless of their background—has the opportunity to live with dignity, access education and skills, and pursue their dreams. Our mission is to serve as a platform for hope and transformation by equipping vulnerable children and youth with life skills, education support, vocational training, mentorship, and entrepreneurship opportunities that enable them to become self-reliant and responsible citizens. The foundation works closely with communities, government institutions, development partners, and other stakeholders to address the challenges facing vulnerable children and youth, particularly those living on the streets. These challenges include lack of education opportunities, limited life skills, unemployment, social exclusion, and psychological trauma. Through our programs, we aim to restore hope, build confidence, and provide practical pathways for young people to reintegrate into society and achieve sustainable livelihoods. Our initiatives focus on several key areas including youth empowerment, psychosocial support, entrepreneurship and financial literacy training, skills development, education support, talent development, and community awareness programs. Through projects such as the Save The Dream Hub, training workshops, mentorship programs, and outreach activities, we create opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and transform their ideas and talents into meaningful and productive futures. Save The Dream Foundation believes that every child and young person carries a dream worth protecting and nurturing. By working together with partners, communities, and stakeholders, we aim to create a generation of confident, skilled, and empowered young people who will contribute positively to the social and economic development of Tanzania.
Save The Dream Foundation was founded by Jackline Simon, who currently serves as the Executive Director of the organization. The idea of establishing the foundation was deeply inspired by her personal life journey and the challenges her family faced while striving for a better future. Growing up, Jackline witnessed how dreams can be interrupted by circumstances beyond one’s control. Her mother once had strong aspirations of pursuing education and building a better life. However, those dreams were cut short when she was forced into marriage at a young age, long before she could complete her studies. Soon after the marriage, Jackline’s father left the family when Jackline and her younger brother were still very young. From that moment, their mother had to raise them alone as a single parent, carrying the full responsibility of providing for the family. Life became increasingly difficult as the family struggled with both economic hardship and health challenges. Due to limited financial resources and the lack of adequate medical support, Jackline’s younger brother tragically lost his life. The loss was devastating to the family. At the same time, Jackline herself faced serious obstacles in continuing her education, as the family’s financial situation worsened and her mother’s health continued to decline. Eventually, in 2023, Jackline lost her mother as well. The passing of her mother marked a turning point in her life. While reflecting on the struggles her family had endured, she realized that many children and young people face similar situations where their dreams are interrupted—not because they lack ambition or potential, but because they lack access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. It was during this difficult period that the idea of Save The Dream Foundation was born. The foundation was created with the belief that every child and young person deserves the chance to pursue their dreams regardless of their background or circumstances. Jackline envisioned an organization that could support vulnerable children and youth—especially those who, like her family, have faced hardship, loss, and limited opportunities. Save The Dream Foundation therefore focuses on addressing the root causes that prevent many young people from achieving their dreams. Around the world, and particularly in many communities, countless children and youth are forced to abandon their aspirations due to poverty, lack of access to education, poor healthcare, and limited economic support systems. Without the right support at the right time, many talented and ambitious young people are unable to reach their full potential. Through its programs and initiatives, Save The Dream Foundation seeks to help bridge this gap by promoting three fundamental pillars that form the foundation of a fulfilled life: quality education, good health, and economic empowerment. By supporting these key areas, the organization aims to give children and youth the tools, opportunities, and encouragement they need to transform their dreams into reality. Today, Save The Dream Foundation stands as a symbol of resilience, hope, and opportunity—working to ensure that the dreams that were once interrupted in one family can become a source of transformation and possibility for many others.
